Bing & Grondahl produced the world's first Mother's Day Plate in 1969, and it is still the most popular and longest running Mother's Day series ever issued. The designs are molded into the plate in relief, and then hand painted in cobalt blue.
All plates listed here are FIRST QUALITY (no scratch through the trademark) and in EXCELLENT CONDITION (no chips, cracks, repairs, or other significant defects). Approximately 6" diameter. Most plates from 2014 to 2022 are in original boxes with certificates and brochures; some older plates available with boxes on request.
Mother’s Day Jubilee plates, 9 inches in diameter, were issued every 5 years starting in 1979 and ending with the Jubilee 2009 plate. Each featured a design taken from a prior year’s Mother’s Day Plate. The 1979 Jubilee plate featured the same Cocker Spaniel and Pups as the 1969 Mother’s Day Plate; the 2009 Jubilee plate featured the Cat & Kittens depicted on the 1971 Mother’s Day Plate.
From 1986 through 2008, B&G issued a Mothe’s Day figurine that matched the Mother’s Day Plate from that year. Most are 3 to 4 inches.
